You grow up, meet someone, fall in love, get married and have children! That is what they tell you as a little kid of how your life should progress, but what do you do when you grow up and that plan doesn’t happen? When that last part doesn’t become reality?
I have dreamed of being a Mommy my whole life. When asked in school what I wanted to be when I grew up, that was always my answer.
I met my husband Nate in 2008, and we were married in 2011. I was turning 30 the next year, so we decided we’d take a year to be newlyweds and after my 30th birthday I would go off birth control.
A few months before my 24th birthday, and after a long struggle with anorexia, my doctor told me that I would most likely never be able to have children of my own.
The initial doctor at the clinic diagnosed me with PCOS and told me to keep trying clomid. “You’re young” he said to me multiple times. I felt like he was brushing me off because even though I was young – it wasn’t working!
